Good to know

Follow on IG and tag your stay @elwoods_aframe Elwood's A-frame is located in the rural Rocky Mountains of Colorado. It is only 45 min from downtown Colorado Springs and 1 hour 45 mins from Denver, 40 minutes to Garden of the Gods, 1 hour to Buena Vista, and 1. 5 hours to multiple ski resorts. There is an abundance of outdoor activities nearby that make perfect day trips all year round. The home is a newly renovated original 70's A-Frame inspired by Scandinavian design. The A-frame is located near the entrance to the Fossil Beds National Monument, Wolf Sanctuary, and 10 min from National Forest access with multiple hikes, ATVing, and Jeep rentals. Visit the 3 nearby reservoirs for world-class fishing and kayaking or drive to the top of one of Colorado's tallest mountains, Pike's Peak. Upon booking, I will provide you with a house manual that details all the things to do, see, eat, and drink! Living Essentials: The home is 600 square feet with an open floor plan. There is a full kitchen with high-quality cookware and all dining essentials. Basics such as, cooking oil, salt and pepper, a few spices, condiments, etc. are provided. A hot bar is available with Starbucks coffee, tea, and hot chocolate. The home is stocked with books, board games, and an amazing Sonos sound system indoors and out. The Norwegian gas fireplace is a wonderful source of heat and ambiance. All high-quality linens, and towels are freshly-washed right before your stay. Bed & Bath: Both the loft and downstairs rooms have super comfortable memory foam queen beds. The bathroom has a spa-like walk-in shower and many toiletries and extras in case you forgot to bring something. Hot tub: The 5-person spa truly sets this place apart from all the rest. It sits up on the deck overlooking the mountains during the day and stargazes at night. Most nights in the Rockies are clear enough to see the Milky Way and star-gazing is exceptional here, especially when kicking back in the hot tub with a glass of wine. Outdoor Living: The 2 acres of land are mostly wooded and back up to a 600-acre ranch. The seasonal outdoor space includes 2 decks with stunning views, hot tub, café lights, Adirondack chairs, and a gas grill. Privacy and Road Noise: While the home feels private and secluded, it is still in a neighborhood (like most mountain homes in Colorado in order to reduce environmental impact). There is little to no road noise, and most of the time it is absolutely silent. The closest neighbors are behind the A-frame, they have a couple of dogs that may bark upon your arrival but you won't them much after that. 👉 Local Attractions 🐺 20 Minutes – Colorado Wolf and Wildlife Center 🪨 25 Minutes – Florissant Fossil Beds 🦕 20 Minutes – Rocky Mountain Dinosaur Resource Center 🦓 50 Minutes – Cheyenne Mountain Zoo 👉 World-Class Fishing 🪝 20 Minutes – Dream Stream – Lake George 🐟 25 Minutes – Eleven Mile Canyon 🛶 1 Hour – Eleven Mile Reservoir 🌊 1 Hour – South Platte River – Deckers 👉 Sledding, Skiing & Snowboarding ⛷️ < 2 Hours – Frisco Adventure Park (sledding), Monarch Mountain, Cooper, Breckenridge, Keystone, Vail 👉 Exploring Pikes Peak 🚞 40 Minutes – Cog Railway to the Top 🚗 1 hr 30 Minutes – Drive to the Top 🏘️ 40 Minutes – Manitou Springs (Explore the town at the base) 🥾 40 Minutes – Manitou Incline 👉 Hospitals 🚑 20 Minutes – UCHealth Pikes Peak Regional Hospital – Woodland Park 🏥 45 Minutes – UCHealth Memorial Central – Colorado Springs 🧸 55 Minutes – Children’s Hospital Colorado – Colorado Springs 👉 Airports 🛬 50 Minutes – Colorado Springs Airport 🛄 1 hr 45 Minutes – Denver International Airport 👉 Colleges & Universities 📘 20 Minutes – Charis Bible College 🎓 40 Minutes – Colorado College 🏛️ 45 Minutes – University of Colorado – Colorado Springs 🛩️ 1 Hour – Air Force Academy

Other Details to Note

FIRES: Absolutely NO open fires. Forest fires are a very serious and real threat in the dry Colorado climate. Making a fire in the fire pit or anywhere else will result in being asked to leave without a refund. It may also result in a huge fine from the county during a fire ban. WINTER: The driveway is plowed after 5 inches or so. AWD or 4X4 is REQUIRED Nov through April; however, please understand that it can snow as early as Oct and into early May. If you do not have access to an AWD or 4x4, you may park at the bottom of the driveway off the main road and walk up the driveway to the A-frame but this will not be ideal. INTERNET/TV: WiFi is provided via Teller WiFi, you may notice a white dish on the front of the deck, this is for the WiFi. It has been newly upgraded to a 10MB download speed with is plenty fast enough for remote work, zoom calls, gaming, and streaming. A 32in Roku tv is located in the back bedroom, loaded with all the steaming channels, just need your login. Music streaming is done on the Sonos system, it is easier if you download the app from the supplied QR code on the device itself. ELEVATION: The A-frame is at 8,600 feet. Some people experience minor to severe symptoms from the altitude (headache, sleepiness, dizziness, nausea, etc.). If you are coming from a lower elevation and are sensitive to altitude, I HIGHLY recommend giving yourself at least a day to acclimate in the Denver/Boulder area. Staying super hydrated and avoiding alcohol will also help prevent these symptoms. The natural bedrock spring water direct from the sink is some of the best water in the US, so please stay well hydrated during your time and always have water with you on day trips. SEPTIC SYSTEM The A-frame is on a septic system and Well water. It is very important you don't flush anything besides waste and bathroom tissue.

I can’t understate the beauty and magic of this cozy romantic and modern little A-frame cottage. We only had about 30-some hours there for a quick getaway but it was amazing! Sunrise on one end, sunset at the other, the moon was full and the skies so clear for stargazing from the hot tub! Pack your supplies (food & drink) in, bring a book and enjoy every moment that you can during your stay!!!

What a beautiful spot to get away from everything and relax. The a-frame is beautifully designed, the property is private, and the views are spectacular. It’s a perfect little oasis we didn’t want to leave!

We absolutely loved staying here, we extended another night. The surrounding area is beautiful and Jeff & Kysha’s place is the perfect cozy cabin for two. They were wonderful hosts, very responsive and proactive in sharing what we needed to know and providing recommendations. This has been the best Airbnb experience for us so far.

Some friends and I stayed here for a weekend to celebrate our annual Friendsmas getaway. This was a perfect size and location for 3-4 people. Check-in was a breeze, the hosts were super responsive and friendly, and the home looks exactly as pictured. Super cute, cozy and has everything that you would want from a modern cabin in the woods. We thoroughly loved climbing up and down the stairs to the upper loft like we were kids in a treehouse again haha. It was also nice to play music inside and outside seamlessly with the Sonos speakers as it helped create a peaceful and warm ambiance throughout the space. Also, their recommended local food spots were 10/10! I can't say enough great things about our experience with Elwood A-frame. We would love to come back!
